Key takeaway

By deploying Cerrion AI Agents across the highest-loss points on four production lines at its Weißwasser plant, Stölzle Lausitz enabled faster operator response, prevented cascading breakage events, and achieved a 36.5% reduction in scrap - leading to rollout across all factories of the group.

About Stölzle Lausitz

Stölzle Lausitz is a leading manufacturer of high-quality glassware, specializing in premium drinking glasses for the hospitality and consumer markets. With a strong heritage, international customer base, and large-scale production operations, the company is known for precision manufacturing and uncompromising quality standards.

To maintain these standards while meeting rising efficiency pressures and customer expectations, Stölzle Lausitz sought new ways to improve line performance and process reliability.

The challenge

In glassware production at Stölzle Lausitz, stability along the line is critical but inherently fragile. As glasses move through transfer curves, stackers and loading systems, individual pieces can tip, collide, or shatter. These small deviations often escalate quickly: a single fallen or damaged glass can trigger jams, block flow, and cause cascading breakages across the line.

This challenge is amplified by Stölzle Lausitz’s uncompromising quality standards. Any glass that is stressed or potentially compromised cannot be sold and must be scrapped. As a result, even minor incidents - if not addressed immediately - result in disproportionate material losses, reduced efficiency, and avoidable downtime.

At the same time, the speed and complexity of the process make it nearly impossible to manage these risks through manual monitoring alone. Operators cannot continuously observe every critical point, and incidents are often only addressed once their effects are already visible downstream. This limits the ability to intervene early.

Stölzle Lausitz therefore needed a solution that could:

  • Continuously monitor critical production areas
  • Detect deviations early
  • Trigger immediate preventive action
  • Provide visibility into recurring issues across shifts

The solution

Stölzle Lausitz deployed Cerrion AI Agents across key sections of four production lines at its Weißwasser plant, including stackers, transfer curves, and loading/unloading processes.

Using standard CCTV cameras, Cerrion’s AI Agents continuously monitor these critical points in real time and detect process deviations such as tipped or damaged glasses before they block production.

When an issue occurs, the AI Agent responds immediately:

  • Operators receive localized audio alerts indicating the exact issue and location in their native language
  • Early intervention prevents jams and cascading breakage events
  • Every incident is automatically recorded with video footage and structured anomaly data

Operators and line leaders access these insights directly on the shop floor through Cerrion’s shop floor applications, enabling faster root cause analysis, better shift handovers, and more systematic continuous improvement.

“We are glad to be pioneering the world of AI together with Cerrion in the crystal glass tableware sector. Cerrion has already enabled us to respond much faster to process disruptions, and we are only at the beginning of our work together. We are looking forward to what is to come.”

Impact and outcomes

  • 36.5% reduction in scrap
  • 24/7 automated line supervision
  • Improved line performance within weeks of deployment
  • Decision to expand to all facilities within the group

From pilot to rollout

Following the initial deployment, Stölzle Lausitz saw clear and measurable improvements in scrap reduction, line stability, and operator response times, alongside strong adoption across line operators.

Based on these results, Stölzle Lausitz decided to roll out Cerrion across all factories within the group and expand usage to additional use cases at its Polish facility.
